Principles of Personal Protection – Level I (basic CPL/CCW)

Topics Include:
The safe storage, use and handling of a revolver and of a pistol etc., including handling to protect child safety.

Ammunition knowledge and the fundamentals of handgun shooting including proper technique and shooting stance.

Firearms and the law, including civil liability issues. All laws that apply to carrying a concealed pistol in this State, Public Act updates.

Avoiding criminal attack, controlling a violent confrontation and more.

Introduction to Public Act 719 (Effective: 07/01/03), current CCW requirements, class rules, instructors background, class overview.

Responsibility CCW limitations, who can you protect, when is the use of lethal force justified, police response/responsibilities.

Reality/non-reality what to expect during a lethal engagement, reasonable alternatives to lethal force, stress physiology, situation awareness.

Selection correct firearm, ammunition, holster for self defense applications.

Ammunition components, types, performance/terminal ballistics.

You Can Win how to survive a lethal engagement, scenario familiarization, when to shoot/where to shoot to prevent further aggression.

The “LAW” relevant to personal protection, concealed carry limitations, your rights, what to expect from the legal system, selecting legal council.

Firearm Safety there are no acceptable accidents, safe handling, cleaning/maintenance and storage of firearms and ammunition.

Firearm familiarization/manipulation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, shooting stance.

Written evaluation over classroom presentation.

Range instruction basic shooting techniques, qualification.

Presentation of certificates- upon successful completion of course, debriefing.

A REVIEW IS REQUIRED EVERY FIVE YEARS

It may be time to renew your Concealed Pistol License. The renewal process is significantly easier than starting over once your license has expired. Check your license expiration date and allow 90 days or more for your County to process your renewal application.

Civilian Safety Awareness Program
Defending Yourself with Pepper Spray


Personal Instruction by James D. Binder and Brian Tatti

Program Content:
Levels of awareness/avoidance

Effects of OC/CS when used for personal defense

4 types of spray patterns

Legal aspects and general guidelines for self defense

Responsible use of force for self defense, alternative to lethal force

The use of verbal warnings before and during attacks

Proper stance, presentation and deployment of defense spray

Accurately targeting and deploying spray at a physically combative subject

Certificates presented upon successful completion

Class Duration is 3 hours

Course Cost: including instruction and student kit $70.00

Student kit consists of (course manual, 3-practice sprays, 1-Sabre Michigan Legal 2%OC spray)

HIGH PERFORMANCE HANDGUN SERIES
Principles of Personal Protection Level II
Improving Accuracy Skills

Topics Include:

Skill evaluation – identification and elimination of common shooting errors

Engagement of single and multiple targets – improve sight acquisition and engagement skills

Maximize ability to stop aggression – engagement of anatomically correct targets

Rapid fire shooting – double taps, stop drill

Development of techniques required to survive a lethal engagement

Debriefing and presentation of certificates upon successful completion of course

Required Equipment:
Firearm (w/spare magazines or speed loaders) 150 - 200 rounds of ammunition

Strong side hip holsters/inside or outside only (cross draw or shoulder holsters not permitted)

Factory ammunition only – No Russian Wolf/Steel Core ammunition allowed

Prerequisite:
Principals of Personal Protection Level 1 CCW or A Valid CPL/CCW

Course Length:
2 hours on the range

Course Cost:
For each level $95.00 (includes range fee)

Lecture on holster and magazine pouch selection, correct placement of holster and magazine pouch to maximize draw efficiency

Review of Level ll

Presentation of the firearm, learn to draw the firearm from the holster, acquire the sights, engage the target and retire the firearm to the holster after successful target engagement

Applying the presentation to previously mastered shooting drills

Rapid fire shooting – double taps, stop drill

Demonstration of low light target acquisition

Debriefing and presentation of certificates upon successful completion of course
